Our First Lady
Mrs. Alisha Marriott is the wife of The Reverend Dr. Hugh B. Marriott, and serves as the First Lady of the Allen Temple African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in Mount Vernon, New York.
A native of Queens, NY, she received her high school diploma from August Martin and furthered her studies at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. There she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and went on to achieve a Master of Science degree in Telecommunications Management from the Stevens Institute of Technology, in Hoboken, NJ.
She is currently a manager in the Network Technology & Operations organization of Verizon Communications, Inc., and has been with the company for 25 years.
Her responsibilities include leading a team of 10 engineers who deliver high speed network services to businesses and large enterprise customers across New York City in Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island, including JFK and LGA airports.
Alisha is an active volunteer for the Junior Achievement of the Hudson Valley, NY and visits local elementary schools where she teaches classes on the importance of community and family. She is also a member of the Epsilon Pi Omega graduate chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Her gifts include organizing activities and events, and with her passion for hospitality, she enjoys connecting to others by creating memorable experiences.
Prior to serving at Allen Temple, Alisha and her husband were co-facilitators of the marriage enrichment ministry at the Mount Moriah AME Church in Queens, New York. Their belief that marriages are a cornerstone in the body of Christ helped to grow the ministry and bring couples together in service to God.
Currently, Alisha supports the AME church as a Promotion of Missionary Education Director, Church School Superintendent, and member of the Minister’s Spouses Organization. She is passionate about service to others and travels annually to Guatemala to share her love and gifts for the cause of Christ.
Alisha and her husband, Hugh, reside in Westchester, New York with their daughter Nadia, and dog, Athena. They have an adult son, Osei, daughter in law Cecilia and three grandsons Osei II, Elias and Syre.
